About the Artist

Hello! My name is Tom. I am originally from a small rural town in north-east Wisconsin. I have been living in Illinois for a while now and work as a software analyst by day. I am a photographer at heart, and have been taking photos since I was a kid. I specialize in landscape and nature photography. My ideal job would be as a photographer for National Geographic.

I've had the great fortune to have traveled to many places around the world. I love exploring new places, and have been to Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Central and South America and all over Europe. In 2001, I took a 4 month leave of absence from my job to backpack all over Europe. I hit over 15 countries on that trip, and have been back a few more times to hit a few more. I've taken hundreds and hundreds of photos on my trips.

I finally went digital in 2004, after my Nikon 35mm camera was stolen at a hostel in London. I love the flexibility and portability of digital photographs. They are easily printed on paper or canvas (giclee). Giclee prints have a beautiful matted finish which makes them look like a painting... so cool!

In summer of 2009, I started experimenting with other forms of art mediums. I've always liked working with wood, so I started making mosaic pieces out of old wood. They take alot of time to create, but I think the finished product is very unique and worth the effort.
